Equifax Canada Credit Report Tools and Products

The MERit Credit Engine provides instant Equifax Canadian Credit Reports for integration into custom enterprise or web applications, or for use in custom scoring, all without without added transaction fees.  It can also provide access to iDecision Power and Equifax Commercial Credit - Canada.

Direct Canada Access or North American Link

Most MERit Credit Engine customers in Canada will use its capability for direct system to system access to the Equifax Canadian consumer credit database.

The North American Link credit report option provides access (from either side of the border) to the U.S. and Canadian Equifax repositories.  If, for example, a loan applicant has a credit history in both Canada and the U.S., the MERit Credit Engine can provide an Equifax Canadian credit report and U.S. credit report with a single inquiry.

When a consumer has a credit history in only one country, Equifax's North American link automatically returns the appropriate credit report.  Canadian credit reports are pulled automatically whenever the current or former address specifies a Canadian province.

The MERit Credit Engine can provide credit reports as text, credit histories as SQL tables, and the original raw data (where needed) for interfacing to your application.  Handling country differences and credit bureau differences is easier than ever with the MERit Credit Engine.

• BEACON scores are available with Canadian credit reports, including additional reason codes applicable to Canada.
• Canadian credit reports include a Checking/Savings segment showing NSF check information
• A bankruptcy segment (which may differ by province) shows bankruptcies and  bankruptcy disposition.

iDecision Power

The MERit Credit Engine supports Equifax iDecision Power, which provides real-time decisions at the point of need. Credit decisions and custom strategies are based on a package of more than 100 flexible criteria, assisted by Equifax back-end mainframe processors, which Equifax Canada customers can modify, test, and measure themselves.

Custom input factors (such as income) can be included in the decision process. The returned data can be a decision, or it can be a decision accompanied by a full credit report and/or risk and fraud warnings. The MERit Credit Engine manages the data  submission and retrieval.

Equifax Commercial Credit - Canada

For credit reports on 2 million businesses in Canada, the MERit Credit Engine provides automated retrieval from Equifax Commercial Services. The reports may include banking and  trade data and risk factors such as returned cheques, courthouse items, and third-party collections.
